What I Wore in Tulum
It is just about a month after my interesting experience in Mexico. There is a public beach in Tulum that really felt magical and was frequented by locals in the area. We had fun taking these pictures - also the people from whatever lifestyle brand that actually had a crew that was shooting there were definitely distracted by our similar decision in art direction. I believe I won. Melanin always wins.
I rarely shop when I am on beach vacations - but since my neighbor accidentally stole* some of my beach looks for this trip, I was kinda forced to try to pull it together locally. I had a bunch of clothes that really didn’t match my mood or accommodate the environment. What I loved about this look was that is was so comfortable. I rarely if ever wear Maxi dresses because I feel like they are for taller women who like to throw drinks on one another, but this was the exception. The owner of the shop where I bought the bag, added another hole in the strap for me so I could wear it as a waist bag - THIS IS NOT FANNY PACK.
*meaning your dumb ass neighbor didn’t bother to look at the label on the package from a very popular online shop and just swiped it off the front desk without even checking in with concierge. to be a mediocre white man in america is to be the most free muthafucka in the world.
While makeup shopping for this trip I learned that BB/CC cream is a makeup trend of the past and most makeups now are making light weight medium coverage options. I usually wear some sort of coverage either for moisture or for sun protection and in this case for both. I used Too Faced Peach Perfect Foundation in one of the brand’s many new deep (read: rihanna got all these brands investing in negro) tones. It was waterproof, smelled so lovely and the fragrance didn’t break me out. I layered L.A. Girl Luminous Glow Skin Illuminating Cream on my T-zone and cheeks to highlight my natural glow. NATURAL GLOW ENERGY.
